Purple Steel:

Structure becomes action.

Balance yields to function. Ordering is no longer enough: it must sustain. The fish no longer asserts itself as a figure; it becomes construction.
It does not rest in space; it activates it. The sculpture does not present itself as an image; it is understood as a system of forces. The joints remain visible. Each element exists because it carries another.
It does not represent an idea.
It executes it.
At this point I enter into dialogue with Gabo, Pevsner and Tatlin.

The structure works. It can now dispense with all figure.
