Neoplastic Volumetry:
Structure becomes rule
The fish ceases to be a recognisable figure; its system remains. Axes, proportions, exact relations between fullness and void.
I work through restraint. Each line responds to a strict decision. Each plane exists through its relation to the others. There is no impulse, no accident. The sculpture holds itself in a calculated equilibrium.
At this point I enter into dialogue with Mondrian, Vantongerloo and Marlow Moss.
The rule is no longer enough. It must now become matter.
